Darley Park

Within walking distance of the city centre, this large popular park, given to the city by the Evans family, offers fine views of Derby. It is a peaceful place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. The river Derwent flows through the park providing a natural path to follow along one side of it. One can return through Darley fields on the opposite bank.

Event Information
The event starts at 11:00 in Darley Park. The 5km course will take you round Darley Park giving excellent views of the River Derwent and surrounding areas. Please arrive 30 minutes before the start for the mass warm up.  There is no parking or vehicle access to Darley Park and you may have to walk 15-20 minutes to the starting area so plan your journey accordingly. 

The route is mostly on grass so it is not suitable for wheelchair users.

BOSU is an acronym for "both sides up", and is made of a 25 inch solid platform with an inflated rubber hemisphere. This training tool is one of the most versatile and beneficial to hit the health, fitness and sports industry in the last 5 years. The BOSU can be used with the platform side either up or down for different types of balance challenge and offers a different means to make exercise more appealing and effective for average people, fitness enthusiasts and highly trained athletes. This workshop will teach you over 100 exercise and stretch variations of this functional training tool, dramatically improving your personal training programme design, as well as giving you the knowledge of putting together BOSU classes.

Course Aims

1. Learn the benefits of training with the BOSU as part of a well-rounded and appropriately periodised resistance training programme.
2. Understand the specific safety considerations and contra-indications associated with exercising with the BOSU.
3. Gain an understanding of how to include BOSU exercises within a gym based resistance training programme.
4. Gain the knowledge and practical experience of correct techniques for dozens of BOSU exercises as well as common faults to look for.
5. Learn of how to utilise BOSU exercises for the development of stability, balance, agility, power and strength for clients of varying ability and training experience.
